20 Jun: Baptism of Fire

I have a Pentecostal background, for which I am very thankful. My forefathers paid quite a price to preach and defend that the baptism in the Spirit and speaking in tongues is still for today. I owe it to them to do nothing to take away from their accomplishments, but add all I can. Having said that, I have seen that many have come to the wrong conclusions about this Holy Spirit baptism. It’s not for tongues (which I believe is important and available to everyone). It’s for power. And it’s not just power for miracles. It’s so that the power-charged atmosphere of Heaven can rest upon a person, which forces a shift in the atmosphere over a home, business, or city. This baptism is to make us living witnesses and examples of the resurrection of Jesus—the ultimate display of Heaven’s power. The Spirit of the resurrected Christ is what filled the air on the day of Pentecost.

04 Apr: I Found the Holy Spirit in Some Unexpected Places…

Can the Holy Spirit truly be found in every book of the Bible? The answer is yes! How could it be otherwise? How could the One who inspired every word written in both the Old and New Testaments not be found in the same?I love the Holy Spirit, and I never tire of talking about Him. I’ll never forget the day He touched my life. I was never to be the same again. I am forever ruined for anything less than the majesty of His presence. I’m driven by a holy obsession with the Spirit. Since the moment He first befriended me, I have sought to be a better friend to Him; I have sought to know His mind, power, and nature. Hungry to know more about the Person of the Holy Spirit, I asked Him to teach me. I told Him, “Teach me everything! I don’t want to miss a thing about You!”I had been faithful to steward all of the beautiful revelations the Lord had given me before—revelations concerning the Holy Spirit. I wrote them in books. I preached them in sermons. I taught them in lessons. I prayed them in prayers. I recorded them in both audio and video media. And the more I talked about the Holy Spirit, the more I realized that there was more to know. Sometimes, right in the middle of me preaching, the Holy Spirit would give me whispered instructions, spontaneous glimpses about His Person. Just when I thought that I had discovered all there was to discover about Him, I would find more—much more. Dear reader, the well of revelation will never run dry. There’s that much to Him.

03 Apr: Is Being Slain in the Spirit Biblical?

Yes, it is, and I’ll tell you why it is.But before I can present the “why”, I must define the “what”.There are many different terms coined for the manifestation of which I write: Slain in the Spirit, Falling Under the Power, overwhelmed in God’s presence, etc. Many believe that the phenomenon is either purely psychological or, on the more extreme view, demonic in nature. Now I want to make it completely clear that I do not make this a priority in my ministry. The “Slain in the Spirit” manifestation is not essential to my core beliefs about Christ. My faith is founded on the life, death, resurrection and identity of Christ. So rather than teaching that “Falling Under the Power” is primary, I teach that it is only incidental.

15 Mar: 3 Special Reasons Why God Speaks to Us

How confident do you feel right now in your ability to hear and know God’s voice?God wants each of us to hear and know His voice for ourselves. But many times, we don’t always know what to listen for.God makes it clear that He has confidence in our ability to hear Him!“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”  (John 10:27)God believes you’ll know His voice when He calls to you.“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’ “ (Isaiah 30:21)If God has this much confidence in us to hear His voice, it’s time we gain that same confidence. Understanding a few of the different reasons God speaks will help us learn to recognize His voice in our daily lives.
