Every illustration of faith throughout the Bible reveals that faith is the belief in God’s Word and character despite circumstances or situations. To put it another way: faith is believing God when things look, sound or feel the opposite of what He says.

Horror Filmmakers Trade Morality for Greed

Just weeks after one of the most horrible school shootings in American history—what will go down in the books as the Newtown massacre—Texas Chainsaw 3D is raking in the big bucks at the box office. The horror flick posted $23 million during open weekend. That’s more than both The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and Les Miserables.

To say that the horror filmmaking industry has poor timing is an understatement. Wheeler Winston Dixon, author of A History of Horror and professor of film studies at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, made a bold declaration that I strong agree with. He told Reuters: “I think the very act of releasing this film right now is almost immoral.”

If Chainsaw was the only violent film debuting in the weeks after the Newtown massacre, that would be bad enough. But Gangster Squad opens on Friday. And Djuango Unchained is still showing. A Haunted House and Storage 24, two more ultra violent films, will soon debut on the Silver Screen.

An Open Letter to Atheists This Christmas Season

It seems not a day goes by when the Freedom From Religion Foundation or some other atheist group isn’t attacking one of our Christian prayer meetings, trying to take down a nativity scene or attacking some other form of Christian expression.

I have one question for you: What's it to you?

American Christians aren’t looking to trample your rights to believe whatever you want to believe or to celebrate those beliefs within the boundaries of common law. Why are some atheists so driven to go head to head in a battle each and every Christmas season over the same issues? And why does that battle have to continue throughout the year at football games and other public events where Christians simply want to display a Bible verse on a sign?

Harvard’s ‘Kinky’ Sex Club Invites Jezebel Spirit’s Sexual Immorality

The Harvard College Munch, a student club that advocates safe practices for kinky sex, is nothing new. But its official recognition by the 376-year-old university is.

Consider the self-stated purpose of the immoral group: “to promote a positive and accurate understanding of alternative sexualities and kink on campus, as well as to create a space where college-age adults may reach out to their peers and feel accepted in their own sexuality.”

“Harvard College Munch therefore meets an otherwise unaddressed need on campus,” the group’s website states. “Though existing campus groups range from representing women and men, queer sexualities and orientations, all the way to groups dedicated to abstinence, no other group exists as a forum for students interested in alternative sexualities to explore their identities and develop a community with their peers.”

3 Simple Questions for Those Who Need Pain Relief

I’ve often heard it said, “From the hardest struggles come the greatest gifts.” This has certainly been the case in my own life. My son was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a potentially life-threatening type of lymphatic cancer. There’s no way you can prepare yourself for the…

When seeking the Lord concerning the year 2020 and beyond, I was excited to hear the Lord say to me that the coming year is “20/20, the Year of Perfect Vision!” The Lord is proclaiming this statement over the Body of Christ, right now. He began to talk to me concerning the ability of the Holy Spirit to give us spiritual discernment to see clearly in these last days. I was reminded of the prayer that the Apostle Paul prayed for the church at Ephesus:

Prophetic Insight

Another month, another conspiracy theorist claiming the end of the world is coming.

You may be rolling your eyes right now, but the reality is scads of unsuspecting people are buying into this bombastic banter. We need to pray for more discernment in the body of Christ. When the world witnesses this goofy manifestation of the “prophetic,” it makes genuine prophets seem illegitimate.

Let’s debunk these false prophetic utterances before we pray:

Eight years ago, my wife Sharon and I were at a crossroads. We were leading a church in the suburbs of Los Angeles and running a House of Prayer steps away from the old historic Azusa Street Mission. We had seen the Lord move in some significant ways as we prayed for another outpouring in the city that we called home. At the end of 2010, our spiritual mom, Cindy Jacobs, gave us a word that it was time for us to step into the heart of LA (which we knew was Hollywood).
